Hello, I’m Ashley
I am a mixed media artist working across printmaking, painting, and collage to explore creative rest as both a personal necessity and a subtle act of resistance. Drawing from my background in art education and art therapy, my work blends structured, repetitive processes with intuitive, playful mark-making. I use layering, text, and imagery to examine internalized beliefs about productivity and self-worth, often obscuring and rewriting language to interrupt these patterns and create space for rest. I am especially drawn to creating sanctuary spaces and imagined worlds. Influenced by children’s uninhibited creativity, I embrace bright color, imperfect marks, and elements of humor and kitsch, incorporating personal motifs drawn from nature and everyday life. My work strives to honor and re-parent my inner child. 8-year-old me would be happy to know I am still using glitter and neon pink in my art.
